DAY 1 · MON 21 JUN

Land, settle, walk

MORNING · ARRIVAL

Arrive, take a proper break and collect the car when ready. Make Reykjavik the first base rather than driving deep into the coast after a flight.

AFTERNOON · HARBOR

Drop bags at the hotel, have lunch and take a short harbor walk. Keep the afternoon flexible if the arrival was tiring.

EVENING · BAEJARINS BEZTU

Try the Laugavegur branch for a simple hot-dog stop, then choose an early night. Save a bigger dinner for a day with less travel.

NIGHT 1 · Fosshotel Reykjavik. Easy arrival; no long south-coast drive.

DAY 2 · TUE 22 JUN

The Golden Circle

MORNING · THINGVELLIR

Start with the main marked walking area at Thingvellir. Give the stop real time before continuing the Golden Circle route.

AFTERNOON · GEOTHERMAL

Have lunch along the route, then visit Geysir and Gullfoss. Stay on the designated paths and leave the last stretch to Selfoss unhurried.

EVENING · SELFOSS

Check in at Selfoss and have dinner nearby. Refuel or pick up tomorrow's snacks before settling in; tomorrow's route continues east.

NIGHT 2 · Hotel Selfoss. Golden Circle first; no drive to Vik tonight.

DAY 3 · WED 23 JUN

Waterfalls on the way

MORNING · SELJALANDSFOSS

Drive east and make Seljalandsfoss the first main stop. Choose the open, signed visitor route; treat any closed or wet section as optional.

AFTERNOON · SKOGAFOSS

Pause for lunch near Skogar, then visit Skogafoss. Choose the base viewpoint or the signed steps according to the weather and your energy.

EVENING · VIK

Check into the Vik base and keep the evening local. Walk around the village if it is comfortable outside, then have an unhurried dinner.

NIGHTS 3-4 · Hotel Kria. Two nights in Vik removes a daily luggage move.

DAY 4 · THU 24 JUN

Stay put in Vik

MORNING · DYRHOLAEY

Check current road and wildlife access before choosing the viewpoint outing. Stay within signed routes and keep the plan short if wind changes conditions.

AFTERNOON · FLEXIBLE

Use a village viewpoint in good conditions or make Skogar Museum the indoor alternative. If visiting Reynisfjara, check SafeTravel and use only the permitted viewing area.

EVENING · NO BIG DRIVE

Stay local for dinner and compare the menu at Smidjan Brugghus. Leave tomorrow's westbound return clear rather than adding another long outing.

NIGHT 4 · Same Vik room. Wind or access change? Use the museum option.

DAY 5 · FRI 25 JUN

Take the westbound road

MORNING · A CULTURE STOP

If you did not use the museum yesterday, make it today's main stop. Otherwise leave Vik slowly and keep room for a favorite viewpoint.

AFTERNOON · RETURN WEST

Break the return around Selfoss for lunch and fuel. Arrive in Reykjavik with daylight and energy left rather than planning a late final drive.

EVENING · REYKJAVIK

Check back into the city base, return any unnecessary luggage to the room and choose one relaxed dinner. Pack most things tonight.

NIGHT 5 · Fosshotel Reykjavik. Return to the capital before departure day.

DAY 6 · SAT 26 JUN

A calm way home

MORNING · LAST COFFEE

Have breakfast and choose one short central walk if your flight allows. Keep the final morning free of ticketed visits or distant detours.

AFTERNOON · CAR RETURN

Fuel according to the rental terms, return the car and leave the airport buffer required by the airline. Skip the morning walk for an earlier departure.

EVENING · DEPARTURE

Make the airport the last stop. The trip finishes after five nights, with no final-day drive from Vik and no time-critical sightseeing before check-in.
